Back to Nature.

Back to nature

This post, I have decided to dedicate towards my journey into “Getting Back to Nature.”  All too often we find ourselves in the hustle and bustle of what our busy lives throws at each and every one of us.  This is, however, lots of times exactly what causes us the most stress and frustration in our life.

According to The American Institute of Stress, some of the most common causes of stress are:

* Divorce
*Negative feelings
*Financial Problems
*Work Difficulties

As we all know, these are just a few of the things that cause us stress in our daily lives.

Okay, so, stay with me here…  how many of you ever take a walk in the wilderness? Whether it be a Park, National Forest or just the woods close to your home.  Anyone who has can tell you how relaxing and peaceful it is.  The views are breathtaking and the fresh, clean air makes your lungs dance for joy!  Not to mention all the animals that you get to see first hand. From the smallest “roll-ey poley” to one of the biggest- the Bear.

Animals of all shapes and sizes. Now, don’t get me wrong- SOME OF THEM COULD BE DANGEROUS!  But as long as you stay on the beaten path, you are sure to come in contact with a few animals.

As for myself getting back to Nature is pretty easy because I live out in the country and there’s nothing but wilderness surrounding me.  I will record my progress as I go and share some insights.  I’d love to hear from you about your wilderness experiences.

Here’s a list of some things you can do if you wanna join me in Getting Back to Nature:

  • Go hiking
  • Take a camping trip.
  • Try your luck at fishing.
  • Find a secluded spot for meditation
  • Jogging in a State Park.
  • Bike an unknown trail
  • Find a wilderness Guide if you are inexperienced.
  • Enjoy some breath taking views in the mountains.
  • Go on a Picnic

If you’re not too “outdoorsy” I recommend that You take a friend along with you & also a map!  Don’t forget to stay hydrated. That’s one very important thing to remember when you are experiencing the outdoors.

Spf 15 Sunblock Review

My Review: Spf 15 Sunblock

Sunscreen’s are products that help prevent the sun’s (UV) or ultraviolet rays from harming the skin.                                                                   SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor & it is a measure of sunscreen’s ability to prevent UVB ray’s from damaging the skin.

UVB rays cause sunburn & skin cancer.                                                           UVA rays cause wrinkling, sagging & aging to the skin. UVA rays penetrate more deeply.

SPF 15 filter’s out 93% of the sun’s UVB ray’s.                                                   SPF 30 filter’s out 97% of the sun’s ray’s.                                                               SPF 50 filter’s out 98% of the sun’s ray’s.

Here are a few sunblock comparison’s:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Banana Boat Protect & Hydrate Sunscreen Lotion, SPF 15

Homemade all natural skincare recipes.

My all natural skincare recipes.

It is easy to make skincare products in your own kitchen.  In my opinion, they are better for you and also most of the time cheaper to make.

A good rule of thumb concerning what you use in your recipe is..      “Never put Anything on your face that you can’t put in your mouth!”

If you have skin sensitivity issues, even when using all natural products, it’s a good idea to test the suspected ingredients before you use them.

All these recipes are for men & women alike.  So you men, get to work!  You can even apply these recipe’s onto your beards.                   In fact, I recommend it.  There’s skin under those manly beards & it would love to have a little TLC.

Facial hair, is still hair and it needs to be conditioned.  You’ll find that once you try it your beard will be alot softer feeling and not so dry & coarse.  It also will help to prevent those dreaded Ingrown Hairs.                                                                    man

Here’s a few of my recipes for Men & Women

Moisturizing mask:                                                                                                               1 c.  plain yogurt                     2 tbsp. honey                                                                 1 tsp. vitamin e oil                 plain white flour  (to thicken)                               cucumber slices                     1 tbsp. milk

Mix all ingredients together, if mask is too thin, add plain flour to thicken it.  Dip cucumber slices into mixture & then refrigerate both mask & slices.  Apply to face as thick as possible.  Place cucumber slices over eyes and relax.  Be careful not to get into eyes.  You can refrigerate slices without dipping into mixture.                                     Leave on for 15-20 minutes.  Rinse w/ luke warm water, followed by a big splash of cold water.  Pat dry.

Citrus Revitalizing Mask:                                                                                                    2 tbsp. juice from orange          3 green grapes (squished)                               3 red/purple grapes                     1/4 c. mango (peeled)                                         1/2 banana                                        1/2 c. plain yogurt                                               1/2 tsp. vitamin e                           1/2 c. coconut milk/water                               1/4 c. pineapple                               flour to thicken

Blend all ingredients until mostly smooth.  Apply liberally to face and leave for 10-20 minutes. Rinse & pat dry.  Sensitive skin 5-10 minutes.                                                                                                                                                                                  skincare

Scrub:                                                                                                                                             1 c. ground oatmeal                        1/2 banana                                                           2 tbsp. sugar                                        1 tbsp. grapeseed oil (or cooking oil)     1 tsp . aloe vera juice

Mix together.  Apply to face in small circular motions. Careful not to apply too much pressure.  Leave for 15-20 minutes.  Rinse w/ luke warm water.  Pat Dry.

Cleanser:   (dry skin)                                                                                                               1/4 c. aloe vera gel                              1 tsp. vegetable oil                                         1 tsp. glycerin                                         5 drops rosemary essential oil

Mix ingredients.  Shake before each use.  Apply to face, this cleanser doesn’t lather like soap.  Rub in circular motions over face.  Rinse with luke warm water.  Pat dry.

Cleanser:   (oily skin)                                                                                                              1/4 c. witch hazel                                  1 tsp. herb infused vinegar                      1 tsp. glycerin                                          5 drops eucalyptus oil                                1 tsp. echinacea tincture (for acne)

Mix ingredients.  Shake before using.  Apply to face.  Rub in circular motions.  Rinse w/ luke warm water.  Pat dry.

Acne Treatment:                                                                                                                     1/2 tsp. goldenseal root (powdered)                                                                          20  drops tea tree oil

Mix ingredients into a paste.  Add water to get right consistency.           Leave on for 15-20 minutes.  Rinse with luke warm water, followed by a splash of cold water.  Pat dry.

That’s it for now.  There will be plenty more to come, so check back.

The 100s of things I do with Vitamin E.

The 100’s of things “I” do with Vitamin E..

vitamin e
my uses 4 vitamin e

First off… Let me start out by saying that all these “inventive, yet crazy”  little tricks that I’m about to share w/ you, are            MY OWN- WONDERFUL IDEAS–  there’s no extensive studies approving any of this…but what the heck- “give it a try.. ok…ok.  After you get thru laughing……  then  “give it a try.”    I’m Serious!

 Here’s a little about Vitamin E

The Miracle Supplement- Vitamin E , leads the list of natural remedies & is a powerful antioxidant that fights specific cancers & heart disease. It helps promote a healthy heart, supports a healthy immune system, as well as, helps w/prostate and mental health.

Studies suggest that vitamin E can help people with diabetes, it improve’s immunity in the elderly, it prevent’s colon cancer, protect’s against Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

I,  myself  “FIRMLY” believe that vitamin E keeps your arteries from getting clogged  up with cholesterol.                                                                   That is only my opinion.

Vitamin E has proven helpful to decrease hot flashes, because it is structurally similar (on the molecular level) to Estrogen.  (So it might act as a mild form of estrogen replacement therapy.)

For decades people have consumed supplemental amounts in the form of vitamin E capsules. The most important key role of vitamin E, is as an antioxidant. It soaks up free radicals which are produced by the interaction of oxygen and fats in the body.  By doing this it protects the cells of your immune system.

Have you ever bought something, got it home, tried it out, And loved it?

That’s kinda how I met the “huge ray of sunshine, in a gel cap” we know as Vitamin E.  Not only was I impressed w/ it when I started taking it; but it has proven to be great for anything that my mind comes up with.   And I can come up with some doozies!

Now..  here’s a few things “I”  do with it!?

(i’m sure you’ve never thought of most of them)

*my mind works in mysteriously creative ways, sometimes!?*
    • Squeaky doors or hinges.. lube them up!                                                                        (bite a tiny hole in top of capsule & squeeze a little on it.)
    • feet feel rough?..lube them baby’s up!                                                                       (2 drops goes a long way.)
    • going somewhere & your sexy boots dont shine?...lube them up 2!             (the more u rub the warmer it gets which in turn, makes it                    spread like butter.)
    • trying to pimp out your ride?..forgot your tires?..lube ’em up!                                     (shines tires. rub it in, let it sit a minute, then wipe.)
    • have a teeney weenie little pet turtle & dont like to see his skin dry?.  you said it..  ” get loo-bee with it!”                                                     (It’ll look like his shell’s been detailed!)
    • what about your baby pet frog that gets alligator skin?..   (Frederickour frog- loved it so much he’d lay on his back & let me grease him up using a Q-tip!)
    • Lizard’s too..(feet, toes, tail)
    • Your baby’s bottom. (creates a protective barrier between butt & wet diaper.)
    • green leafy houseplants.. ( a little dab will do ya)
    • opening day of hunting season & ur boots leak?                             (squirt it on your boot seams/stitches.  smear it in with your finger & you’re good to go!)
    • leave your tools in the rain?...lube ’em up!                                              (rub a drop or 2 onto all rust, let sit a day or 2, repeat the rub down,  another day & it’ll open & close.  A little elbow grease–rust is gone .
    • Your dog has puppies and you dont want her “boobies” to sag?  (my dog  Fancy” loved it on her’s!  And it brought her’s back up where they were supposed to be too!)
    • The same thing  goes for people too.  (So slather your’s with some lube!)
    • When Fancy’s ears or paw’s feel rough.. I rub ’em down with some “E”…(problem solved!)
    • Riding 4 wheeler & your bearing starts to squeal..                              (those few “just in case” Vitamin E caps I tossed in my tool bag works like a charm.)       (that’s pretty good, considering the way I like to ride.)                            gettin' muddy
    • My newest use, as of yesterday:  (works great on sprocket & chains.)  Once I, “put the lube down” on the chain,  I got to ride, glide, slip-n-slide.

This is Only the Beginning of the 100’s of things I use Vitamin E for.   The rest will be coming soon on my next one.  So stay tuned-

it’s just now starting to get interesting!

All natural skincare for men.

Facts about men’s skin:

  • Men have thicker skin than women.
  • Men have 20% oilier skin than women.
  • Men have larger pores than women.
  • Men’s skin has smaller sebaceous glands.
  • Most men don’t know how to take care of their skin.

Male hormones (or androgens) are the mechanisms that cause stimulation of the sebaceous glands, which in turn produce more sebum.  This sebum causes inflammation in the hair follicles, thus causing bacteria to form.                                                                                                  Testosterone, an androgen, converts to dihydrotestosterone, (DHT) a form of male hormone, which switches on the oil glands. The oil glands are stimulated via receptor sites on the cells of the sebaceous glands thus causing breakouts.

Here’s a easy to follow skincare routine:

After cleansing with soap ,(ivory) to wash away dirt& oils, use a toner on skin that doesn’t contain alcohol.  Toners with alpha hydroxyl acids help to reduce pore size & also help to prevent ingrown hairs.        For moisture you can break open a Vitamin E capsule & rub onto face.

Shaving advice:

Shave after a warm shower, or apply a warm washcloth to face for several minutes, to soften hairs. Apply shave cream or gel so razor will glide over skin. Always shave in the direction of hair growth. Rinse afterward with lukewarm water. Finally, moisturize to hydrate skin. (alcohol free aftershaves & toner’s help to hydrate skin.

If skincare products you use burn, tingle, irritate or hurt- don’t use it!

Here are a few DIY recipes:

Aftershave balm:

1 c.witch hazel                                                    1 tsp.vegetable glycerin                6 drops sweet orange oil                              3 drops of sandalwood oil            Mix all ingredients. Pour into glass bottle. Drop a few drops onto  hands and splash onto face.

Aftershave cream:                                                                                                                1/8 c. coconut oil                                                                                                                   1/2 c. shea butter, softened                                                                                              2-4 drops of essential oil (your choice)                                                      Vitamina_E_(suplemento)_095             Mix ingredients well, use on your face.

DIY all natural deoderant                                        1/2 c. cornstarch                                                     1/2 c. baking soda                                                   10 drops tea tree oil                                                                                                         4tsp. coconut oil                                                                                                             Mix ingredients well.  Place in airtight container.                                              To use: scoop some out & slather under your arms.

Have Yourself a Party!

Have yourself a party

I admit- the title’s strange. But lately, it seems like I can’t win for losing. It’s been 1 thing on top of another. Trying not to be discouraged, I decided to work on a new blog post… The only thing I keep thinking of is the saying- “When life gives you lemons-make lemonade” so here’s my thoughts:

What if u feel like you have Oranges instead??                                                                                                                                                           I think you should consider them a gift & mix it up!                               Take those big ole “juicy” oranges, mix in some “Grey Goose” Vodka &  Have Yourself A Party!!

It’s great to be different….you don’t blend in with the crowd!

Always be Yourself, not what people want you to be.

Finding “Your”self…

Finding yourself…

If you read any self help or motivational articles these days, most of them say that you should find yourself.  But what does this actually mean?  How do you go about finding yourself?  Where do you start? And how do you know that you have found your true selffind urself

These are the questions that I’ve been asking myself since I decided to write this article. I have read lots of articles, flipped thru tons of magazines & even downloaded a few apps that claim to help you do just that.  And in the end, I was still in the same place that I was when I started.

Here’s a quote that’s helped me, maybe it will you.                                                                                                                                                                                                                      “Get out of your head & get into your heart.                Think less, feel more.”   ~Osho

Of all the quotes that I have read, this one seemed to help me personally,  in beginning my journey.  I am just starting out & definately still learning; but here are my thoughts & advice so far.

First off, take a step back & learn about yourself.  Try & imagine that you are on the outside looking in..

Some say, pretend it’s your friend & you are giving them advice.     What advice would you give them?

But, I don’t agree..

In my opinion that over complicates things.  Who’s advice should you give yourself? (when looking for “yourself”)                                                  Advice from your own inner being,  who knows you the best…          or a friends advice, who may or may not have the same beliefs  or opinions as you?

Try & imagine that you are on the outside looking in..

Although it is very new to me, I do believe that meditation is helpful. How else can u clear your mind of everything & start to look within yourself?? I also think it’s best to get the hardest part out of the way in the beginning. Meaning- Go ahead & look at your past mistakes- Accept Them & Move On!!

Try new things. Something that you’ve always wanted to do.

Get out of your comfort zone. Anything that isn’t the “same ole thing” you’ve been doing. “If that were working, we wouldn’t be searching.”  Become a beginner again; study a new language; read a new book. Anything of interest that you’ve never studied?  Learning new things opens you up to a whole new world out there, just waiting for you to enjoy!

Finding your purpose in life doesn’t have to be as hard & scary as everyone say’s. Why should it be? You don’t have to make yourself feel bad all over again, just to feel good in the end.                              Work thru what’s bothering you & then- CUT IT LOOSE.

Create the person that you are within, by accepting your past & your present. You can’t change it anyway. Just let your inner spirit guide you into your future. And you will be fine.

Laughter & happiness are the best things to strive for. The rest will come naturally if you just give yourself a chance. Enjoy yourself & be thankful for the life you do have. Sometimes we get so caught up in worries that we forget to be thankful for the things we do have.

Lastly, don’t expect it to happen overnight. It took a while for you to get where you are now, so it’s gonna take some time to work thru it. You may get frustrated, but hang in there, it will be worth it in the end.

Beginning my journey..

I am just beginning my journey towards finding myself, so I’ve decided to take notes & keep you up to date as I go.                                       Please remember, I am searching too, I’ll make a few mistakes as I go, but I’ll be glad to pass on anything that helps.                                             Maybe we can help each other along the way. I will be posting updates on my journey & I’d love to hear about your’s too.                       If you have any questions or wanna leave a comment leave it below or visit my site:

It’s a very old type of all-natural folk medicine that uses plants & plant extracts to treat a variety of ailments.

Evidence has been dated 60,000 years ago that Neanderthals used indigouous plants for their skincare needs & also for healing & treatment of many ailments.

Usually only the green & leafy plants are used. Most all parts of herb plants make great spices. (ex: seeds, berries, roots, bark & inside meat from stem) They also bear fruits or vegetables which make them edible.

Medicinal herbs are usually the woody plants & shrubs. While the more soft, leafy ones are for Culinary herbs.

Botanical definition:                                                                                                         Botanical Science defines an herb as a plant that does not produce a woody stem. Usually dies in temperate climates. They are both annuals & perennials. Meaning they either die (annual) or go back to their roots.(perennial) Some examples are: bulbs, peonies, hostas, grasses, banannas to name a few.

Some of the different influences in our culture are: Chinese herbal medicine, the Ayurvedic principles of india, the ancient Greek & from Rome.

The Chinese Method or “Herbology” is where the doctor acesses the yin/yang condition of the patient, along with studying their symptoms.                                                                                                                   Chinese herbs are classified using these methods:

  • The Four Natures:  This is the yin/yang state. How effective herbal medication is in bringing them into balance. Yin/Yang ranges from cold (extreme yin), cool, neutral, warm or hot. (extreme yang) If patient has internal cold then an herb that has hot yang value is used.
  • The Five Tastes:   These are pungent, sweet, sour, bitter, & salty.       pungent herbs are used to increase sweating & vitalizing blood. sweet herbs are used to tone & harmonize body systems.                   sour herbs are used as an astringent.                                                                 bitter herbs help get rid of excess heat & empty the bowels.               salty herbs help to soften up hard masses.
  • The Meridians:  Meridians refer to the precise organ that the chemicals in an herb target. Menthol is pungent & cool & is associated with the lungs & liver. This means that since the lungs are organs that protect the body from colds & flu, the use of menthol helps get rid ofcoldness in the lungs & also resist heat toxins.

Always Remember:                                                                                                                    * Use a non-metallic or enamel pot when preparing your own                     herbal remedies.

Dangers:                                                                                                                 Anything we extract from the plant is a chemical. In some cases- just a small bite on a leaf can cause death in infants. These plants are usually found very deep in the woods, but always use caution. You can overdose if herbal drugs & conventional drugs are used together to cure the same ailment.                                                                                                  Choose herbal treatments that have been proven safe & effective.

Coconut Oil & it’s many uses.

what is coconut oil you say??

It’s a fatty oil that is extracted from the meat of a mature coconut. It is used in beauty & skincare products, candies, soaps & other food products. Its use has been traced back to the early 1800’s.

It is a skincare must have in in my opinion. It moisturizes you skin, tames your mane, nourishes your body & even lubricates.

Here’s a few ways it’s used.
  • diaper rash cream
  • body moisturizer
  • homemade deoderant  lip balm & lip gloss
  • homemade deoderant
  • stretch marks
  • body scrub’s
  • facial scrub’s
  • cheekbone highlighter
  • shaving cream
  • massage oil
  • nipple cream(for nursing mothers)
  • to fade age spots
  • sunburn care
  • sexual lubricants
  • tanning oil
  • overnight conditioner
  • dry, cracked feet
  • static reducer
  • metabolism booster
  • an energizer
  • homemade toothpaste
  • wound care
  • seasoning cast iron pans
  • taming fly aways & frizz

This is on of my favorites…

coconut sugar scrub:

  • 2 cups cane sugar
  • 1 cup kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1tbsp almond extract
  • 1 tsp. vitamin e oil

mix together, add more liquid until you reach the desired consistency. massage scrub onto body in circular motions.                         especially on your elbows, knees, & feet. Use extreme care on face, scrub is very abrasive.

It gets rid of dead skin & moisturizes at the same time.

meaningful beauty is collection of skincare products ernriched w/ lipoic acids, minerals & an exclusive melon complex that is said to restore the look of youthful radiance.

Here are my personal pro’s & con’s of MB:

  • There are skincare items for all skin types.
  • It’s made fromamelon complex.
  • A distinguished doctor came up with the products.
  • It’s Cindy Crawford’s beauty care regimen!!
  • They let you pick & choose which products that you want every month.
  • It’s backed by a 60 risk-free return policy. no matter if bottles are empty.

  • The price.
  • Sometimes feels like its too much on your face.                                 (oily skin especially.)
  • The creme de la serum seemed to irritate my face & first, but went away after I started my “own routine” of rotating products to fit my skincare needs.

my overview:

My overview of Cindy Crawford’s Meaningful Beauty is that all in all these are great products & they do seem to work. Especially on Cindy who looks like she has hardly aged since 25yrs.old.

The products have alot of the good nutrients, antioxidants, & all natural additives. They have great anti-aging values & for the results-the price isn’t all that bad.
